What is the Armed Forces Covenant? The Armed Forces Covenant is a national commitment recognising the contribution made by members of the Armed Forces community. Its principles state that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, should face no disadvantage compared with other citizens in the provision of public and commercial services, with special consideration appropriate in some circumstances. Businesses and other organisations can voluntarily sign the Covenant and make commitments supporting the Armed Forces community. What does the Armed Forces Covenant mean for CR2? The security industry has strong links with the Armed Forces community, and CR2 recognises the skills, experience and professionalism that serving personnel, veterans and reservists can bring to the workplace. British Veteran Owned verifies eligible businesses before awarding the British Veteran Owned hallmark, providing a visible way for customers and procurement teams to identify and support genuine veteran-owned businesses. Verification includes evidence of military service and confirmation that the business meets the scheme's ownership criteria.
What is the Good Business Charter? The Good Business Charter is a responsible-business accreditation initiative designed to recognise organisations that operate responsibly across a range of business practices. The framework covers areas of responsible business including employment, environmental responsibility, responsible relationships and wider business conduct. The Good Business Charter describes itself as a UK benchmark for responsible business and was developed with involvement from the CBI, TUC and Federation of Small Businesses. What does it mean for CR2 clients? For CR2, responsible business is part of how we believe a security company should operate. Our accreditation reflects our commitment to running the business responsibly — not simply providing a security service. What is ISO 9001? ISO 9001 is an internationally recognised standard for quality management systems. It provides a framework for organisations to establish, maintain and continually improve the processes they use to deliver their products or services. ISO 9001 focuses on areas including customer requirements, leadership, planning, operational processes, performance evaluation and continual improvement. What does ISO 9001 mean for CR2 clients? For a security client, quality management is particularly important. Security services need to be delivered consistently. Procedures need to be understood, responsibilities need to be clear and issues need to be identified and dealt with properly. What is the Real Living Wage? The Real Living Wage is a voluntary wage rate calculated independently according to the cost of living. It is different from the government's statutory National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage. The Living Wage Foundation describes the Real Living Wage as the only UK wage rate calculated according to the real cost of living, with rates independently calculated annually by the Resolution Foundation. Accredited Living Wage employers commit to paying the Real Living Wage to eligible workers, including relevant third-party contracted workers. Why does this matter in security? Security is a people business. The quality of the service depends heavily on the quality, reliability and professionalism of the people delivering it. What is SafeContractor? SafeContractor is a contractor assessment and accreditation scheme that assesses businesses against health and safety and other relevant compliance requirements. Its assessment can cover areas including health and safety policies, risk assessments and method statements, training, qualifications, insurance and other organisational and ethical considerations. SafeContractor is also a member of the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) framework, which uses recognised core health and safety assessment criteria. What does SafeContractor mean for CR2 clients? For clients, particularly organisations operating formal procurement or contractor-management processes, SafeContractor provides additional assurance that CR2 has undergone an independent assessment of relevant health and safety and organisational requirements. This can be particularly important when security personnel are working on: Construction sites Commercial premises Industrial sites Schools and education facilities Public-sector sites Large events High-risk or controlled environments It provides clients with confidence that CR2 takes health and safety, competence and responsible working practices seriously.
What is Safe PQQ? Safe PQQ is a recognised pre-qualification assessment designed to help organisations demonstrate that they meet important requirements around health and safety, insurance, competency, policies, procedures and business compliance. Pre-qualification questionnaires are commonly used by businesses, main contractors, facilities management companies and public-sector organisations when assessing whether a contractor is suitable to work on their sites. For a security company, this matters because clients are not simply employing people to stand on a site. They are appointing an organisation that needs to demonstrate appropriate standards, systems and controls.
What is the SIA Approved Contractor Scheme? The Security Industry Authority's Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) is a voluntary quality assurance scheme for private security businesses. Importantly, ACS approval applies to the security company, whereas an SIA licence applies to an individual security operative. To become an approved contractor, a security business must undergo an assessment against the SIA's requirements and demonstrate that it operates to the required standards. Approved contractors are assessed on areas including business management, quality, compliance, staff management and operational practices. ACS approval is also subject to ongoing assessment and maintenance requirements. What does ACS mean for CR2 clients? For a client choosing a security company, ACS provides an additional level of assurance that the organisation has been assessed against recognised standards for the private security industry. It demonstrates that CR2 has voluntarily chosen to undergo assessment rather than simply meeting the basic requirement of supplying SIA-licensed personnel. What is the UKCMA? The United Kingdom Crowd Management Association (UKCMA) is a professional body representing organisations and professionals involved in crowd management and public safety. Established in 2001, the UKCMA works to raise standards, promote good practice, strengthen collaboration and support safer crowd management across events, venues and public spaces. UKCMA membership is subject to defined criteria, with Full Membership available to organisations active in providing crowd management services as a core activity or through a distinct division. Applications are scrutinised as part of the membership process.
